2027 Centenary of Canberra Show - Heritage Exhibition Preparation

16 February 2026

The Hall Heritage Centre and the Royal National Capital Agricultural Society (RNCAS) are working together on a project to celebrate the Centenary of the Show in 2027.

This well-established event had its origins in the early days of the Ginninderra Farmers Union and the competitions and exhibitions that took place well before Canberra was established as the Nation's capital.

To see a history of local agricultural endeavour now showcased as a major Royal Show, is also a significant milestone in the heritage story of our own district as the origin of the "Royal" was closely linked to the nearby Hall Showground.

Hall Heritage Centre are keen to hear from any friends, members or visitors to the Centre who may have stories or memories of those early days of the Hall event. The Heritage Centre is looking at the period from the 1920's to when the Show was re-located from Hall to EPIC in 1963.

 Did you or a member of your family exhibit at Hall?

 Were you a competitor?

 Did you volunteer as a steward?

 Do you remember going to the Show?

 Perhaps someone you know has some ribbons, photos, prize cards or other memorabilia– we would love to talk to them about the project.

 Would you be prepared to do an interview about your own recollections or to share family memories?
